BACK ON TRACK PROGRAM
Individuals who have been convicted of an Impaired Driving / DUI offence in Ontario must complete a remedial measures (educational) program called Back on Track. The program is approximately 11 weeks in length and consists of three stages. In order to get your licence back without restriction as soon as possible, it is important to enroll in the program as soon as possible after the conviction for your Impaired Driving offence is registered. Follow this link to sign up for the Back on Track program.
IGNITION INTERLOCK PROGRAM
For individuals who have been convicted of Impaired Driving offences, the Province of Ontario has created a program which requires individuals to complete a period of ignition interlock in order to have their licence re-instated at the earliest opportunity. Depending on the nature of your conviction and when it was registered (in relation to the charge date), you may be eligible to drive your vehicle in the province prior to the end of your driving prohibition / suspension.
There are three streams – Stream A, B and D. To find out if you’re eligible for any of these Streams, follow this link. The process and timelines may be confusing and, so, it is best to consult with a DUI / Impaired Driving Lawyer in Toronto before resolving your Impaired Driving case.
APPROVED INTERLOCK DEVICE INSTALLERS
In Ontario, you must sign a lease agreement with a government approved ignition interlock company. As at the date of writing this, there are two approved companies:
Please confirm at the time of enrollment whether these companies are still approved by the Ontario government.
